a blog about living life, together in Christ.

To the Sunshine State

“The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” Prov. 16:9

The Lord has opened an exciting new door for our family. Matt recently accepted a position with Cru – Campus Crusade for Christ International. On May 26, we uprooted ourselves from Louisville and made the venture south to our new home in Orlando, Florida.KY to FL

Our confidence in this decision lies in the Lord’s guidance. He has made it abundantly clear that this is where we should take our growing family.

Just a few months ago we were considering plans of moving back to Texas. We would be close to family, Matt could continue his job in Arlington, and I would pick up more writing with his company. It was a perfect plan — in our minds at least. Within a few weeks, my writing contract suddenly ended, and Matt’s heart began to feel a tug away from his current position. We couldn’t deny that the Lord was steering us away from our “perfect plan.”

When Matt got the call from Cru, I immediately said, “No. There is no way you can convince me to move to Florida. Not happening. Only God can perform a miracle like that.”

And, of course, He did.

Within hours, my heart did a complete turnaround. I suddenly had peace whatever the outcome and began praying fervently that the Lord would give my husband clear direction.

And, again, He did.

Affirmation from friends, family and Scripture all confirmed that the Lord’s hand was directing us toward this new venture.

Matt begins his new role as a DevOps engineer for Cru on June 1 and will continue taking seminary classes online. I am continuing my current position as a communications coordinator for ResCare as a remote staff.

Today, we are happily settled in our new apartment and unpacking the last of the boxes.

Any words of wisdom or encouragement are welcome as we find a new normal in a place where we don’t know anyone and settle into a new routine. Of course, we covet your prayers as we transition and seek to find a new church family.

Of course we already made a quick trip to the beach!
