On being a mom

What is being a mom?

It’s bearing the pain of childbirth while giving life to a precious soul.

Or it’s making a financial sacrifice while giving a child a bright future and loving home.

It’s sleepless nights while giving comfort from your own body.

It’s disciplining mischief while shaping young minds and attitudes.

It’s cleaning stained clothes while training on good hygeine.

It’s enduring the whining and tantrums while teaching proper expression and communication.

It’s cooking all the meals while nourishing growing bodies.

It’s wiping away tears while mending broken hearts and hurt feelings.

It’s reading countless bedtime stories while developing curious brains.

It’s cleaning up mess while encouraging creativity.

It’s reading the Bible and praying together while giving food for maturing souls.

It’s helping with homework while encouraging self-discipline and knowledge.

It’s hanging on tight to the passenger seat while promoting independence and responsibility.

It’s loving and respecting your husband while modeling a Christ-centered marriage.

It’s driving to another sport practice while encouraging teamwork and sportsmanship.

It’s saying the unpopular “No” while protecting morality and reputations.

It’s anxiously praying for their future spouse, jobs and family while giving it all to God.

It’s meeting a grandchild for the first time while becoming a loving Grandmom.

It’s giving your child support while they blossom as a parent.

Being a mom is never dull; it doesn’t slow down. It changes shapes in different seasons, but it never loses its importance. Being a mom is a calling. It is hard. It is a sacrifice.

But no matter the season or shape, being a mom is always and undoubterdly worth while.
