a blog about living life, together in Christ.

Christmas 2019

It was another year full of box packing, cross country moving and resettling for the Reynolds family – all for good reasons, of course.

We started off 2019 in Orlando, Florida, with a newborn and excitement for our future as Floridians. We were making great friends through our church called Trinity Church of Lake Nona. Matt enjoyed his job as a cloud engineer with Cru, and Leah enjoyed being a new mom to our precious baby Eli.

On the Move Again

A couple of months later, Matt was presented with the opportunity to join a former co-worker on staff for SIL International as a cloud engineer, located in Dallas, Texas. After much prayer, we chose to accept the position and to once again relocate. It was a difficult move. We loved Florida and felt like our time there was so short (just under one year). Matt enjoyed his job and working with his teammates. Ultimately, we followed the Lord’s leading to Texas in hopes that it might present a ministry opportunity as well.

We moved to Midlothian simply because the commute was short and a rental house became available that some of Matt’s family members own. The Lord was already at work. Within a month of moving to Midlothian, Matt made contact with a local church about a position that was just coming available. In June, he was named a part-time Student Pastor of Oak Crest Baptist Church. The Lord truly opened this door for us; there’s just no other explanation.

We have the opportunity to work with the youth group every week and host a college Bible study in our home every other week. Plus, Matt has had multiple opportunities to stand in the pulpit and do what the Lord has given him a strong passion to do – to preach His Word.

It’s a busy season, for sure, but exciting nonetheless. Matt’s job with SIL is going well, and it offers great flexibility making the ministry job more doable. Aside from being a stay-at-home mom, Leah has a regular contract writing position with her former company and will pick up freelance opportunities at times.

Eli’s Going to be a Big Brother!

After turning 1- year-old in October, Eli began preparing for his first job – being a big brother! He will meet his new baby brother – Samuel – in April 2020.

One More Move Before the New Year

We couldn’t let the year finish without some more exciting news. On Dec. 12, we closed on a house beginning our new journey as homeowners. The house is conveniently located one street over from our church home.

Saying ‘See You Later’

Sadly on Dec. 11, we unexpectedly received news that Matt’s wonderful grandfather, Darold Morgan – or Dede as we called him – was welcomed into the arms of Jesus. Though his body had been slowing fading for some time, his 95-year-old mind was sharper than any I’ve seen. He still taught Sunday school and enjoyed family gatherings. He passed peacefully in his home and joins his wife, Elizabeth, in Heaven. Dede was a spiritual role model for Matt and left a legacy that will never be forgotten.

Merry Christmas to all of our friends and family. We are blessed to have each and every one of you in our lives!
